Transforming the Digital Experience for a Global Cold Storage Leader
The Challenge
A global leader in temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics partnered with G1 Consulting Group to transform its digital presence and create a website that better reflected its scale, capabilities and evolving brand.
G1 initially led the website vendor selection process, helping define the project requirements, manage the RFP and guide the client through the selection of a development partner. Following the RFP, G1 continued to lead the initiative from project inception through go-live.
The project came with an ambitious nine-month timeline and significant complexity. The new site would require an entirely new content experience, a modernized design aligned to the company’s new brand visual system, hundreds of custom facility pages and a new global facility search experience—all while coordinating stakeholders and partners across multiple business units and eight countries.
Compounding the challenge, the organization had limited internal resources and no single source of truth for its facility information.
Key challenges included:
A highly compressed timeline: The project needed to move from inception to go-live in just nine months.
A net-new content experience: No content could be directly migrated from the existing site. The new site required 63 pages of net-new content, along with hundreds of facility-specific pages.
Global stakeholder complexity: More than 30 stakeholders across multiple business units and eight countries needed to contribute to, review and approve the new experience.
Limited internal resources: External partners were needed to support content development and website implementation, increasing the need for centralized coordination and oversight.
Fragmented facility data: Facility information was not centralized, making it difficult to consistently present location, capabilities and services across the website.
The Solution
Taking ownership from kickoff to go-live
G1 took a hands-on approach to leading the initiative, serving as the connective tissue between the client, website development team, marketing partners and multiple internal stakeholders across various business functions.
Rather than simply managing the project plan, G1 took ownership of the overall outcome: identifying what needed to happen, coordinating the people responsible, and stepping in when gaps emerged.
That meant keeping workstreams moving, surfacing risks early, managing dependencies and, when necessary, expanding beyond the original scope to make sure critical work did not become a barrier to launch.
A dedicated G1 project leader worked closely on site with the client throughout the engagement, providing day-to-day leadership and accountability from kickoff through go-live.
Bringing structure to a complex global initiative
G1 established a consistent project cadence, including weekly status updates covering progress, deliverables, upcoming decisions and risks. The team managed coordination across the web development team and other external partners while facilitating alignment among stakeholders across business units and countries.
This centralized ownership helped keep strategy, content, creative, development and approvals moving together toward a single launch date.
Stepping beyond scope to keep the project moving
As the project progressed, it became clear that additional hands-on support would be required to meet the aggressive launch timeline.
G1 stepped in to provide content development, copywriting, creative support and photo selection—work that extended beyond the initial project scope. The team also coordinated comprehensive subject matter expert and legal reviews across the site and managed the loading of approved content into the development team's CMS templates.
Rather than allowing scope boundaries to slow the initiative, G1 focused on what the project needed to succeed and stepped in where necessary to close the gaps.
Building the data foundation for a better customer experience
G1 also addressed one of the project's underlying data challenges by developing a centralized facility database.
The database established a single source of truth for facility information, including locations, management, temperature-controlled storage capabilities, logistics capabilities, solutions and value-added services.
That foundation supported the development of a custom global facility map and individual facility detail pages, giving users a more intuitive way to find and understand the company's global network.

Throughout the initiative, G1's role went beyond project management.
